Situated at 1000 m altitude, the six villages of the Bucium commune are laying on the Nord-West slope of the Meridional Carpathians, in the South of Apuseni Mountains (in the Metaliferi Mountains ). The distance between Bucium and the important towns in the area: 70 km to Alba Iulia, 40 km to Brad, 3 km to Abrud and 8 km to Campeni.

The Bucium gastronomy is based on natural products that give an unique taste to the traditional dishes: pies, balmos, varzar with potatoes and sarmale.

Traditional Cuisine :

Balmoş - milk and cream are boiled together with a little bit of salt, adding when it boils corn flour. Leave it boil for 10 minutes, mixing continuously. It is ready to serve when the mixture is still hot.

Vărzari with potatoes- Poatatoes are washed and then boiled without peeling them. When they get cold, the peel is removed and they are smahed in a large bowl. The potatoes are mixed with oil, fried onion, and pepperoni. This is baked in bread.
