Situated at 1000 m altitude, the six villages of the Bucium commune are laying on the Nord-West slope of the Meridional Carpathians, in the South of Apuseni Mountains (in the Metaliferi Mountains ). The distance between Bucium and the important towns in the area: 70 km to Alba Iulia, 40 km to Brad, 3 km to Abrud and 8 km to Campeni.

We highly recommend trips on foot, on bicycle or on horse-drawn sleigh with the following destinations:

1. Bucium Poieni – Negrileasa Forest – Daffodile Glade (5 hours )

2. Bucium Sasa – Fefeleaga Halt – Ghetar – Detunata Golasa (45 min utes )

3. Bucium Sat – Bucium Muntari (1 ½ hours 6 km)

4. Bucium Poieni – Stâlnisorii Valley – Petru si Pavel Mine – Butura 's Cross – Corabia Massif – Vâlcoi Peak (2 ½ hours)

5. Bucium Poieni – Pârâul Bisericii – Vârtej (1 hour)

6. Bucium Cerbu – Bucium Sat – Bucium Coloşeni – Bucium Izbita – Bucium Şasa – Bucium Poieni

7. Bucium Sat - Bucium Muntari - Roşia Montană (4-5 ore)
